Welcome to Driving with Fiona, I’ve been an Approved Driving Instructor since qualifying in February 2014, having worked on a trainee licence since September 2013. We specialise in teaching in Automatic vehicles because we know that not everyone wants to do manual, or maybe you’ve tried and found it hard, or just want to be independent and don’t really feel the need to learn in a manual.
I have always taught Automatic, and have successfully helped many people pass their learner tests, take refresher lessons for confidence and I love my job.
I now teach in a fully Electric Vehicle or EV. It’s an MG4 Trophy model in Volcanic Orange. Very distinctive, very bright, very easy and lovely to drive. All electric vehicles are automatic transmission, so when you pass your test, you will be licensed to drive an Automatic car.
The pupils I teach vary from those aged 17, to the oldest lady I taught, who passed her test just before her 71st birthday. So you really are never too old!
All sorts of reasons, make people choose Automatic over Manual, they may have tried gears and struggled, might have chosen to learn Automatic because it’s the car they will have access to when they pass. Whatever your reason, my job is to adapt my lessons to suit the way you learn. To teach you safe driving skills that will keep you and other road users safe whenever you are out and about.
As technology changes, EVs are becoming more popular, changes in legislation mean they will dominate the car market over the coming years.
About Us - Fiona
My name is Fiona Clarke and I have been a driving instructor for 10 years now. It has to be one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. I get to see my pupils change from nervous novice drivers into confident independent drivers. The thrill when a pupil passes is as great now as it was when I first started.
Sometimes that journey is quite quick, but other times it takes much longer. Whatever sort of learner you are, we take the learning process at your pace, and I will support you throughout. Some lessons may be challenging, but they are often fun too, and we can laugh or cry as we work towards your goal of being a safe confident driver.
About me, well I’m 58 (don’t tell everyone), married, with two daughters, who are already back seat drivers and like to ‘test’ my driving when we are out. That’s great fun!
I honestly love my job, I get to meet some fabulous people, and no two days are the same, even if I’m being driven round in circles from morning to night.
I learned to drive when I was 17, taught by my lovely Dad, and now I’ve taught over 100 people to learn to drive, including my nephew and step-daughter.
I have experience of teaching pupils who are neuro diverse, so I’ve learned how to change my style to help those with autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia. Many pupils are nervous, suffer from anxiety, I’ll do my very best to help you learn how to remain calm, to keep your nerves under control.

About You
You can be any age, any ability, but must have a desire to learn to drive. You may be nervous, anxious or scared about driving or may just have put off learning when life got in the way. Pricing Policy from January 2026
Lesson Prices
From January 2026, new pupils will be paying the following charges:
1 hour lesson - £54
1.5 hour lesson - £81
2 hour lesson - £108
10 hours block booking £520 saving £20 on standard hourly lesson cost.
If you take a break in your lessons of 4 weeks or more, then you will put to the bottom of the waiting list if we are unable to fit you in.
All blocks of lessons must be used within 4 months of payment, or hours not used will be refunded minus an administration charge of £35.
Existing pupils will remain on their current lesson prices, however if for any reason you do not take lessons for 4 consecutive weeks, then you will no longer qualify for the reduced price, and all further lessons will be at the new rates.
First lessons MUST be paid for one week in advance.

Block Booking
You may decide to block book your lessons to make use of the discounted price we offer for ten hours.
Ten individual hours @£54 = £540
Block Book Ten hours = £520
All lessons prepaid must be used within four months of payment.
Hours not used within that time will be refunded as follows:
Initial payment for ten hours £520
- number of hours used charged at individual hourly rate (eg 7x£54=£378)
- Admin fee of £35.00 to action refund by bank transfer, cash point withdrawal or cheque
- Refund due = £520 - £378 - £35 = £107
Cancellation Policy
By agreeing a date and time for a lesson, you (the pupil) are agreeing that you are available for that lesson and agree to pay the correct hourly rate for that session.
All lessons will require 48 hours notice of cancellation. Any lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be charged for.
Payment will be required before or at the next scheduled lesson. No further lessons will be booked until you have paid for the missed lesson.
Your Drivingwith.co.uk instructor will send a reminder text 2 days before your lesson, by replying to this text you are agreeing to pay for the lesson as detailed in the text. If you reply to this text on the same day it is sent and say you are unable to make the lesson then you will not be charged.
If you do not reply, we will assume that you are available for the lesson, and later cancellations will be charged.
If you block book your lessons, then any lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be deducted from the outstanding balance of hours paid for.
We do accept that emergencies can crop up, and these will be dealt with sympathetically.

Practical Test Booking Policy
You can book your practical driving test yourself.
I have access to the DVSA Online Booking Service for ADIs. This allows me to access the same available tests as the general public can see.
I offer the free service of booking your practical test for you.
I do not charge a fee for this service.
The current DVSA Test Fee is £62, and once we have agreed that we should book your practical test, then I ask that you supply the following to me
Your Driving Licence Number
Your email address
The current DVSA Test Fee £62
I will then book a practical test on a suitable date and time. You will receive the confirmation email directly from the DVSA.
Four weeks before your Test Date, we will conduct a Mock Test.
Should you not be ready for your test, then if appropriate we will agree to move your test, that could mean we move it to another fresh date or we swap with another pupil who may be more ready for an earlier test date.
Data Protection Policy
We will need to keep a record of your name, address and contact number. These will never be passed on to anyone else without your permission.
The only exception to this, would be if the Police, DVLA, Insurance company or other-such body ask for the details of who was driving at a particular time if a motoring offence was committed. If we do not pass on such information when requested, it is regarded as obstructing a police officer or perjury.
We need to see that you have a valid driving licence for the purpose of learning to drive.
To do this, you will generate a onetime only check code on the www.gov.uk website, and supply it to us along with the last 8 characters of your driving licence number. Once we have checked your licence, the code becomes invalid and we are not able to check it again without asking for another code.
When you pass your Practical Driving Test, we will usually take a photograph of you, with your permission we then publish this on our Facebook Page; Driving with Fiona, and our website.
If you don’t wish us to publish your photograph, that is fine.
Once you have passed your tests, any paperwork we have from you will be securely disposed of.
We do however keep your phone number on record, if for any reason you wish us to delete it after you pass, then we am happy to do so.
